Screw Conveyors
Conveyor vs Feeder
One of the most common questions asked about screw conveyors is the difference between a conveyor and a feeder. How material is loaded into each determines which is best for your application. Conveyors and Feeders have other differences, however, the manner in which each receives material is the deciding factor in using a Screw Feeder or Screw Conveyor for your process.
Screw Feeder vs Conveyor Comparison
Screw Conveyor Screw Feeder
-Controlled and Uniformly Fed -Flood Fed
-Horizontal, 30′ incline or vertical -Horizontal or less than 15′ incline
-Consistent Pitch Flights -Variable Pitch Flights
-Unlimited in length – Limited in Legnth
-Hanger Bearings Can Be Used -No Hanger Bearings
-Single Screw Only – Single or Multi-Screw

B.W. Sinclair has been building custom Screw conveyors for over 3 decades. A screw conveyor must receive material in a controlled and uniform manner. The inlet is never flooded and is usually loaded by Rotary Airlock, Screw Feeder or Conveyor, Bucket Elevator, Belt Conveyor and a variety of other bulk material handling methods. A screw conveyor moves material at a specified rate from point A to point B.
